Art Speaks Louder Than Words

Updated: Jan 4, 2023

Almost like saying eyes hear better than ears. They do, surely they do, after all everything on the internet is to be trusted. Of course not, but in this case maybe I am not entirely wrong. To me art is more than just a drawing or an illustration, but is a language on its own. It could be dance, poetry, food or music: art is such an effective yet diverse vessel for communication. Sometimes, art gives us the ability to communicate even what our spoken words cannot, the ability to express words inexistent in our native language. In fact, the use of words is an art. So if what I am saying is that the use of words is an art, then words=art? No, it is more of a subset, so words<art. I somehow made this into a math problem (not entirely correct) just to say art does speak louder than words and I am looking forward to sharing art which takes its form in my writing, illustration and premed journey as an international student in the United States.

The work showcased in this article was created in 2018, about two years into the political crisis in Cameroon. It captures the tendency of a people to be born into and grow up in slavery. Slavery to a system, slavery to challenges that have limited any hope for inter or intragenerational vertical mobility. This is your encouragement to break the chains and pursue something daring.
